Auction Cars: On the auction black

If it's January and you watch SPEED channel alot you know it's Barrett-Jackson Auction time. The six-day event in Scottsdale, Arizona is celebrating it's 40th anniversary and some pretty incredible cars come across the auction block. From the first two days I capped a few interesting black ones:

This '41 Ford Custom is a mid-engined truck with a tilt flat-bed that reveals a Lincoln Mark 8 4.6 quad-cam motor. It had a nice flat-satin black paint on it and sold for $42,000. Very nice and unusual.

Here's a 1990 Ferrari 348 TS Targa with just over 20k original miles running a 3405CC V-8 which sold for 34K. The Commentators hoped, as should be hoped with all used Ferrari's, that service records were included.

This 2011 Ford Mustang 2-door custom coupe was a SEMA car with all the money from the sale of the car going Bennett's House charity. Named Pegasus, (which can be seen from the logo), this badass ‘stang has a Centerforce clutch, a Coyote 5.0 liter with Kenne Bell supercharger pushing her to 600 plus hp, and custom wheels. The brushed steel racing stripe is a nice touch. The charity, should you be in a giving mood can be found at http://www.bennettshouse.org/. $91,000 went to it due to the great charity (and deep pockets) of the winner of the auction.

This 1970 Mustang Custom Fastback is a hodgepodge of sorts design-wise. Named ‘8-ball’, this custom has a 5.0 litre V-8 with Paxton Supercharger, roller cam, a semi roll cage, blacked-out chrome trim and ‘67 tail-lamps. $46,000 took her home.

A beautiful example of pre-war auto-making was displayed in this 1930 Lasalle 340 sedan with an ultra-lush and spacious rear-seat area, to say the least. It sold for $34,000.

As one of the black mustangs was rolled off the auction block, booth announcer and Formula One announce team member Bob Varsha said "You can't beat black." So true.
