Competiton Cars: SEMA showdown

The weekend after SEMA 2010 a little over 50 cars were chosen for The Ultimate Street Car Invitational held at Spring Valley Raceway in Nevada. The cars, all featured at the SEMA show, competed in four events-a speed stop challenge, a street challenge autocross, a hot-lap challenge, and a style and design award.

Amongst the chosen were this K&N 2004 Infinity G35 with a Viper 6-speed transmission and custom exhaust.

A 2008 Bently GT Speed with a twin-turbo 6.0 litre making 600 hp, all-wheel drive and ceramic brakes.

A 1933 Factory Five Coupe Kit ride that the driver overcooked a turn in and broke the steering.

The black Pièce de résistance ride, this ’62 Custom Corvette roadster which, after winning Street machine of the year and GM’s design award, went on to win the style award in the competition.

Overall, the contest showed that some of the pretty and shiny cars under the lights of the SEMA show could really go when they left the showroom floor.

  2. heh. you'd better be to roll a Bently. was really surprised at the performance of that car. In my mind are stuffy old geezers driving 20mph and trading mustard in cars like Bentlys and Royces.
